About the Workshop

Ease into your weekend with a mindful 2.5-hour journey blending the tactile art of Nerikomi pottery with a curated tasting experience featuring Taiwanese, Chinese, and/or Japanese teas paired with handcrafted desserts by Fikalab.

What is Nerikomi (練り込み)?

Nerikomi is a traditional Japanese ceramic technique of layering, stacking, and slicing differently colored clays. By combining contrasting clay bodies, intricate graphic patterns, marbled textures, and organic motifs are created that run entirely through the vessel wall—making every single piece completely one-of-a-kind.

During this session, you’ll learn how to build colored clay patterns and assemble your own custom tea mug while enjoying three distinct tea and dessert pairings designed to create a calm, restorative atmosphere.

What’s Included

 Guided Nerikomi Instruction: Hands-on teaching of colored clay stacking, pattern slicing, slab construction, and finishing techniques.

 🍵Tea & Dessert Tasting: 3 curated courses of premium Japanese teas accompanied by special Fika Lab dessert pairings.

🎨 Your Finished Creation: 1 handcrafted Nerikomi tea mug set including clear glaze application and firing by the studio.

 All Materials & Tools: Colored clays, ceramic tools, glazes, and two kiln firings included.

Important Details & Notes

 Experience Level: Open to all levels (no prior pottery experience required).

 Language: English / Swedish.

Pickup & Firing: After the workshop, your piece will dry slowly, undergo a bisque firing, receive a clear protective glaze, and be fired a second time. Your finished mug will be ready for pickup at the studio in 3–4 weeks.
