Pottery Hand-building & Throwing: 6 Weeks Course

We'd love to have you join us in our zen studio and become an Urban Artist! Let's get our hands dirty and unwind together. Whether you're new to pottery or already have some experience, this course is perfect for you. We'll explore a range of fun techniques, from thumbing, coiling, slab rolling in hand-building to wheel throwing's centering to pulling up the walls. With personalized guidance for everyone, we'll all enjoy the creative process together!

Time: Every Wednesday, 3hr/Session 17:00-20:00 

Course Dates:  6 sessions creating from 17th of October, 24/10, 31/10, 7/11, 14/11, 21/11 and 1 session glazing to be decided together during the 5th session. 

Materials Included: 2kg of Clay, our wabi-sabi glazes, decorative engobes, bisque firing, glaze firing, tea, coffee, and light fika. You can also bring food to microwave.

*Additional Clay are sold at 80/kg, paid at the end of the course. 

Bring with you: Comfortable clothes, a hand towel, indoor shoes and we have aprons to lend you.

Pickup: Approximately 10 working days after glazing.

Course Content Overview

Week 1: Introduction to clay and studio setup. Learn basic hand-building techniques, including pinch pot and slab construction. Example project: Oil burner or candle holder.
Week 2: Refining and polishing your work. Introduction to decorative engobes, their properties, and applications.
Week 3: Introduction to pottery wheel throwing. Learn about wheel setup, tools, and the cleanup process. Example project: Pulling a pouring vessesl 8cm high.
Week 4: Turning and refining the piece you created during the previous week's wheel-throwing session.
Week 5: Personal project selection. Introduction to the glazing process, including its mechanisms and properties.
Week 6: Finalize all projects. Label each piece and prepare for bisque firing.

Final Glaze Session: 2.5-hour glazing session will be scheduled 10 days after Week 6.

Upon payment, you are registered with your name for the course.

Cancellation Policy:

  • Cancellation 14 days before course start: 100% refund or rebook to another course.
  • Cancellation 7 days before course start: A 500 SEK admin fee will be charged for both cancellations and course changes.

If you wish to transfer your purchase to another person, please inform us via email prior to the course start date.
